The castle of Doomed Souls by 00Maria00 The castle of Doomed Souls by 00Maria00
It turned out better than I thought, actually!

I was just so excited about finally getting a premium membership, that I wanted to make my profile as awesome as possible. Preferably by posting one big picture from side to side... It was kinda tough until I managed to convert the journal's skin into a picture, but it's ok now. The two are still not aligned, but I'll keep working on it!

I don't know why I wanna throw this dark impression at people, who take a first look at my gallery - a huge, frighting castle! I guess it's just who I am. I want to appear ominous and threatening, so that it will be a pleasure for everyone to discover the sunny landscapes and fairies deeper in my gallery.

I love that this picture shows the typical creepy castel, and yet still has so many original details.
For example, to me the design of the castle looks like a mix between modern factory and old castle. Honestly, I find an empty factory far more creepy than an old castle, and that's why I like that you played with this motive.
But the most amazing thing about this artwork are the textures. The fence in the front looks so realistic it's like a photo. However, then there's this blue light that gives it a fantasy atmosphere again. I specially like that there are bits broken and the spider webs. Though I think you could have added even more spider webs, probably even more transparent. We've got a fence like that and we always have lots and lots of little spider webs.
What I also like a lot is the fog between the fence and the castle. It gives room for imagination, making you wonder of there's a river with all sorts of creepy creatures in it.
One can see that you put a lot of skill, effort and patience into this artwork, creating this absolutely breathtaking atmosphere.

(lol while rating the deviation I saw the "impact" section and smirked. This definitely had a full on impact on me ha ha)

The castle is very well done and I love how parts of it seem to fade into the fog--makes this all the more mysterious! I also love how the fog seems to cover up the road to the castle...giving the impression that you never know what you may encounter while walking down.

You placed your castle in the dead center--and that caught my attention, allowing me to look closely at the castle's details. The tree on the left amplifies the whole picture's creepiness...however, the spider webs look a bit unrealistic--real cobwebs are softer and are harder to be seen from afar I believe.

I also feel that the stream of smog on the left gates are a bit too bright and don't seem to connect to the rest of the fog. However, these are all just minor details. Overall your picture is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. (bad attempt at puns lol) xD

It's just awesome. This is truly the castle of doom! I would NOT want to go anywhere near THAT castle on Halloween! Good work!

How did you make this part of a journal? I want to do that!

This picture is wonderfully dark and misty. It's like all those enchanted haunted houses, enticing people in. Which is exactly what you want it to do!

Haha, thanks!! ^^ And it's actually part of my DA ID. I found a tutorial about making skins for ID-s here. I'm not sure what I was doing differently from the tutorial, but it ended up looking like this. But it's kinda the way I wanted it - a whole big picture on my profile!
